What is SecondhandMac?

SecondhandMac is a website for buying and selling Apple Macintosh computers, Mac-compatible hardware and all other Mac-related items.
Visitors can post ads if they want to sell secondhand Mac stuff. Visitors can also post an ad if they want to buy something.

Can everybody advertise?
Yes. Every individual Mac sellers/ buyers or dealers, merchants and resellers can post ads. You can see the status of the person or company posting the ad in the upper right corner of every ad.
At the moment the site is free to use for anybody. There is no limit on the number of ads someone can post. Heavy users can expect to pay a small fee for their ads in the future. The distinction between 'regular' and 'heavy' has not yet been decided.
There will be a notice at least two weeks before a payment system will be introduced.
SecondhandMac is also working on several special services for dealers and resellers. Suggestions? Please let us know.

What do you mean by Mac-only?
You can post an ad for any Apple product or compatible hardware or software.
No Windows, no PC, no linux no Amiga. Mac only!

Why shouldn't I use an auction site?
Auction sites are slower (in most cases) than our system.
SecondhandMac provides direct, easy and fast contact between buyer and seller. You don't have to wait for the bidding to start or stop, you can sell or buy at the moment you see an item you like.

What do you do with the data I enter in your system?
Absolutely nothing.
Statistics about pagehits, like hits a day, are registered but we can not and will not connect hits with personal user data.

Will you send mail or spam?
Only a confirmation is send after posting an ad.
Only people on our mailinglist will receive mail with news about SecondhandMac and related info.
If you are spammed by third parties via this site, please tell us so we can take appropriate action.

Why is my ad not listed?
Did you, after seeing the preview, press the button 'Submit ad'? After 28 days the ad is automatically removed.
Did you post according to the 'Rules for posting ads on SecondhandMac'?

I sold my Mac, how can I remove my ad?
After posting an ad, an e-mail is automatically send to you. You can read how to remove or update your ad in that message.

Can I sponsor your site?
Sure! This site can not exist without sponsors. Please read about sponsoring on this page.

How do you do this?
Naturally this site is made and hosted on Macs. The server is running WebStar, Lasso and FileMaker software. All design and development is done by Jeroen Tijdgat. Read more about SecondhandMac on this page.

Because it is fun to design and build a site like this.

How do you make money?
At the moment we do not, we hope to earn some money to pay for this expensive hobby in the future.
With enough visitors we can sell banner-ads or provide some other special service for Apple- dealers and resellers.
